Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta is home to one of the largest Buddhist temples in the world. Borobudur is a captivating destination for travel and landscape photographers. The two primary subjects of interest here are Candi Borobudur, a magnificent Buddhist temple, and Mount Sindara, a scenic volcano.

Candi Borobudur is an awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic landmarks in Indonesia, known for its intricate stone carvings and grand scale. It sits in the foreground of Mount Sindara, also known as Mount Merapi, an active volcano located nearby.

The temple and the nearby mountain are best viewed at sunrise and sunset, and sometimes, you can get lucky after a passing storm to view the mountain rise through the remaining clouds.
